Weekly Round Up

Our first-team ran out 3-0 winners at home to Bemerton Heath Harlequins on Tuesday night. Brett Denham grabbed the first two goals, with Cameron George getting the third under the floodlights at Barlows Park. The second game of the week saw the Romans face Baffins Milton Rovers in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round with the visitors deservedly moving onto the next stage. Paul Coventry opened the scoring from the edge of the box but Baffins replied with goals including a penalty and netting after a controversial decision from the referee culminating in a 3-1 loss for the home side.

As for our reserve-team, they also played mid-week. This was their final pre-season game ahead of what should have been the start of the league campaign on Saturday. The reserves matched up against Thatcham Town Development Team with the away team picking up a 3-1 win. The Tadley goals were scored by Cameron George and Kieron Farmer with the Kingfishers putting one in their own net. They were then due to play on Saturday away to Baffins Milton Rovers, but the game was called off after torrential rain on the coast resulted in a waterlogged pitch and a subsequent postponement.

Looking ahead to the coming week, the U21's are the first team in action facing Berg at Everest on Tuesday night in their first friendly as Luis Kirby looks to prepare his team ahead of the new season. The A team are then in action on Thursday at home to Kingsclere in what will be their primary game after the off season break. The first and reserve teams are then in action on Saturday as they face Brockenhurst and Bosham respectively. Danny Dolan will be looking for a result after FA Cup disappointment whilst Chris Hollis will be looking to get a positive performance and result in their first competitive game of the season.
