Weekly Round Up

The Tadley Calleva First Team came up against Team Solent who were sitting 18th in the Wessex Premier Division. After last week’s FA Vase disappointment, Danny Dolan was hoping his team would get back to winning ways. The first goal of the game fell in Tadley’s favour when Danny Vickers struck home. Team Solent equalised after 70 minutes scoring through Hashim Kasimu. Paul Coventy saw a penalty saved and the game finished 1-1. Tadley now sit in 5th with 11 points. The First team are back in action next Saturday against Alresford away in the Sydenham’s Wessex Premier Division. Alresford are 16th with 5 points. In this week’s game, Tadley Calleva First Team had their second round qualifying game for the FA Vase to play. They came up against an in-from Chertsey Town who were top of their respective league. It took 93 minutes for the first goal of the game but unfortunately it fell to Chertsey. Smith took a quick free kick, passing to Guentchev, who put the ball home over the on-rushing Sean O’Brien. Two minutes later Jupp made an impressive save to deny Tadley an equaliser in the last minute of the game, but the tie finished with just the one goal with the home side going out of the FA Vase. Tadley First Team came into this game against Christchurch after a fantastic win in the FA Vase. Christchurch took the lead in the 34th minute after Connor Thorne headed into his own net. The best chance for Tadley came after 77 minutes when Andrew Charsley slotted in Paul Coventry through on goal. The goalkeeper came out to shut down the angle and saved an effort that was goalbound. Tadley didn’t have to wait long to get the equaliser. Charsley carried the ball forward with a surging run at the Christchurch defence. Sam Hamilton overlapped him received the ball, cut inside and curved the ball into the top left corner. Tadley had rescued a point in the 84th minute. The First Team now sit in

Tadley came into this Sydenhams Wessex Premier Division game fresh after a win in the FA Vase against Ascot United, hoping to build on cup success and take the momentum back into the league campaign. However, the game started very slowly against a Christchurch team sitting in 17th with the away side making it very difficult to play, resulting in a cagey opening 15 minutes. The first chance of the game fell to Christchurch as Scott Joyce let fly on the edge of the Tadley area but his shot went wide. The Tadley Calleva First-Team had very little time to recover after the defeat to Bashley because of our involvement Sydenhams Wessex League Cup. The visitors to Barlow’s Park were Sholing, with Tadley being the victors, beating the Wessex Premier Division leaders 1-0 thanks to a moment of magic from Brett Denham. Denham weaved his way through three Sholing defenders before tucking away his left footed effort. The visitors were then awarded a penalty after Abrams committed a foul inside the area.
