Weekly Round Up

Tadley First Team came into this game against Christchurch after a fantastic win in the FA Vase. Christchurch took the lead in the 34th minute after Connor Thorne headed into his own net. The best chance for Tadley came after 77 minutes when Andrew Charsley slotted in Paul Coventry through on goal. The goalkeeper came out to shut down the angle and saved an effort that was goalbound. Tadley didn’t have to wait long to get the equaliser. Charsley carried the ball forward with a surging run at the Christchurch defence. Sam Hamilton overlapped him received the ball, cut inside and curved the ball into the top left corner. Tadley had rescued a point in the 84th minute. The First Team now sit in third on 10 points after 5 games.

The Reserves played Fareham Town in the Wyvern Combination East Division. Tadley travelled to the South coast off the back of a 3-1 loss to Baffins Milton Rovers so Chris Hollis' side wanted to get back to winnings ways. However, it just wasn’t meant to be. The game finished 2-1 to the Creeksiders, with Adam Bartlett scoring for Tadley. Joshua Brocklebank and Sam McClemens netted for Fareham. But it was a sour finish to the game with both teams finishing with ten after Johnie Gurney and goal scorer Brocklebank saw red. This leaves the Tadley Reserves in 7th with 6 points.

Lastly, the Under 21’s faced Athletico QC in the Memorial Open Challenge Cup. Luis Kirby’s team had to wait until the second half to take the lead. Ben Carter was taken down in the box giving Tadley a chance to go 1-0 up. Sean Newton stepped up to the task and after a long wait slotted the penalty away well. The same goalkeeper was soon sent off for violent conduct. Bradley Cox then played the ball to Bradley Elliott who finished inside the box to make it 2-0. Cox then got his name on the score sheet with a header that he met at the back post. He then got his second lifting the ball over the substitute in goal.

In the coming week, the First Team face Chertsey in the FA Vase at Barlow’s Park on Saturday. Moreover, the Reserves are in cup action away to Brockenhurst in the Wyvern Combination Football League Challenge Cup. The ‘A’ Team are playing Herriard Sports away in the Basingstoke and District Football League. On Sunday, the Under 21’s are away to Andover Central in the Junior Challenge Cup.
