In this week’s game, Tadley Calleva First Team had their second round qualifying game for the FA Vase to play. They came up against an in-from Chertsey Town who were top of their respective league. It took 93 minutes for the first goal of the game but unfortunately it fell to Chertsey. Smith took a quick free kick, passing to Guentchev, who put the ball home over the on-rushing Sean O’Brien. Two minutes later Jupp made an impressive save to deny Tadley an equaliser in the last minute of the game, but the tie finished with just the one goal with the home side going out of the FA Vase. Next Saturday, the First Team are up against Team Solent in the Wessex Premier Division at Barlow’s Park.

The Reserves, on the other hand, swept away Brockenhurst Reserves beating them 5-1. The ‘A’ Team had a local derby on their hands at the weekend. They faced Aldermaston Reserves in the Basingstoke and District Saturday League. Tadley needed to come from two goals down to rescue a point thanks to two quick fire goals from Fred Ball and Simon Penfold. Tadley ‘A’ play Hook in their next game on Saturday. The ‘A’ Team are still looking for their first win in the league after picking up a point from their first two games.

The Under 21’s played Andover Central away in the Junior Challenge Cup. A number of players were ineligible to play due to various competition rules. As a result of this, a few youth players were called up to make their debuts for the Under 21’s. They lost 2-1 to a more experienced side. Jamarl Rose scored Tadley’s goal on his first appearance for the 21's. Luis Kirby’s team are away to AMF United in the Andover and District League this Sunday. He will be looking to continue the strong start to the season keeping up the winning run in the league.
