Colliers Wood vs Tadley-Calleva - Preview

Date - 13th August 2022

Time 15:00 Kick Off

Venue - Wibbandune Sports Ground

League - Combined Counties Premier South

After a disappointing defeat in the FA Cup Extra preliminary round on Saturday, our focus turns to the first fixture of the Combined Counties Premier South campaign this weekend with a trip into the capital to face a Colliers Wood United side with 2 wins from 2.

Colliers Wood United, who play their home fixtures at Wibbandune Sports Ground enjoyed a day out in Kent on Saturday casusing one of the first FA Cup upsets of the season in defeating Step 4 outfit Faversham Town away from home.

Our hosts on Saturday kicked off their league campaign last Tuesday night with a 5 goal thriller at home to Balham FC. A brace from Kylo Brown and a late goal from Aaron Jenkins gave Colliers Wood the first 3 points of the league season.

We are coming in to our debut game in the Combined Counties South off the back of a successful pre-season schedule but a disappointing defeat in the FA cup. Despite this, confidence remains high in and around the club and we feel we have built a strong squad to compete with the top teams in the league. With the retention of the core of the squad from the end of last season and a group of new signings to bolster, this gives us the perfect platform to perform.

Chairman Sandy Russell had this to say in the build up to Saturday; ' I'm excited for the challenge of a new season in yet another new league, the 3rd in the last 3 years! I'm delighted that Dills and Joe have managed to retain the majority of last seasons squad and have also added several high quality signings.

I'm looking forward to the first game and our first ever visit away at Colliers Wood United. Here's hoping we can get our league campaign off to a really positive start!'
