Saturday Roundup - 1.10.2022

It was a mixed pack of results this Saturday for our senior sides. With both the 1st team & A team in leqgue action while our reformed Reserves travelled to Hampshire Premier League chamions Colden Common.

Tadley-Calleva 2-1 Banstead Athletic

We picked up all 3 points yesterday afternoon after a 2-1 win at home to Banstead Athletic. It wasn't the best of performances but we showed character to close the game out and grind out the victory.

Goals in both halves from Brett Denham & Aaron Parfitt respectively.

This goal from Brett takes his tally for the club to 250, a fantastic achievement for such a great servant of this football club. This win sees us sit 8th in the table with 15 points after 7 league games. Losing only 2 and winning the 5.

Colden Common 5 (4) - (3) 5 Tadley-Calleva Reserves

It was cup heart break for our reserve side as they travelled to face Hampshire League Champions Colden Common.

A 10 goal thriller saw a lot of positives from our newly reformed reserve side who continued to battle through 90 minutes against a higher level opposition. Colden Common, arguably the highest 'ranked' team in the competition would not lie down and equalised to make it 5-5 with a matter of minutes to go.

4 goals from Cameron George & 1 from Thiago were cancelled out and the game headed for the dreaded penalty shootout. Looking to emulate the success of the 1st team last weekend, Cameron George told us they were full of confidence. However, 2 misses in the shootout ultimately ended the Hampshire Cup dream as Colden Common progressed 4-3 in the shootout.

Silchester Village 1 -1 Tadley-Calleva A

Our A team made it 17 unbeaten in the Basingstoe & Disctrict Premier division yesterday as they were denied all 3 points by an ageing Silchester side who's goalkeeper, recently signed from Renegades , made a catalouge of brilliant saves.

The 2 title favourites locked horns at AWE Aldermaston with both looking to gain the points advantage over the other. The A team opened the scoring with a Jack Sedgwick header after just 7 minutes but this goal was cancelled out just 5 minutes later as our hosts levelled and it remained this way until the full time whistle.

In the second half we looked to control the game and could've regained our lead through Danny Tompkins was it not for Silchester's goalkeeper who made a fantastic save. The A team sit 2nd in the table on goal difference with it all to play for going forward this season.
