Tadley in seventh heaven

Four goals from Kieran Rodgers lead Tadley-Calleva to a seven nil win away at Hellenic league division one side Chipping Sodbury in the second round qualifying of the Isuzu FA Vase.

Rodgers was joined on the scoresheet by Sheldon Wright, Ousman Darboe & Enow Ojong who completed the scoring.

It was evident from the first whistle that Tadley were out to put their hosts under pressure, with some aggressive pressing deep in The Sods half.

This approach gifted Tadley their first chance of the game after just a matter of seconds, but the effort from Wright sailed over the bar.

On eight minutes however, the early onslaught turned to reward as a ball into the box from Fragata on the right hand side was handled and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Up stepped the ever reliable Kieran Rodgers to strike the ball past the goalkeeper to open the scoring.

Tadley continued to pile pressure on their hosts with a flurry of half chances, the best coming from a Jordan Goater free kick that went narrowly past the near post.

The hosts were getting into the game for the first time but never really looked threatening to Craig Atkinson's goal and on the twenty-five minute mark, Tadley had their second penalty.

Quick footwork and a one two between Fragata and Rodgers in the penalty box caught out the home defence and a last ditch tackle saw Rodgers brought down. With no hesitation Rodgers stepped up and hammered the ball past the helpless goalkeeper and Tadley were now cruising.

Sheldon Wright got himself in on the action with ten minutes to go until the half with a fantastic solo effort. Wright picked up the play midway in the opposition half and beat three men before driving into the box and lifting the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper to make it three without reply.

The half went from bad to worse for the hosts as a sensational strike from Ousman Darboe found the roof of the net from the edge of the box after some fantastic link up play.

The half time whistle couldn't have come quick enough for the home side who trailed 0-4 after the first 45 minutes.

There was no let up from Tadley as just seconds after the whistle to commence the second half, Rodgers found himself with the ball at his feet and with the goal opening up infront of him. He picked his spot across the goalkeeper and rifled the ball into the far corner, securing his hat-trick and Tadley's fifth of the afternoon.

Chipping Sodbury had a good period early in the second half after multiple changes made by Tadley but despite their posession they were unable to create any chance that would call Atkinson into action.

This period was quickly ended however with twenty minutes to go as Enow Ojong latched onto a through ball that broke the defensive line. He took a touch and rifled the ball straight past the helpless goalkeeper and into the top corner. A real net buster and Tadley's sixth.

Tadley continued to push and were rewarded with chance after chance. Rodgers wasn't going to let these chances go to waste as he breached the high line of Chipping Sodbury, pulled the ball wide and tucked it into the far corner from a tight angle. Rodgers had his fourth & Tadley found themselves comfortabl in the hat for the First Round of the Isuzu FA Vase.

An emphatic performance infront of goal that will no doubt increase the confidence of this talented young side.
